Lies Beneath

Lies Beneath by Anne Greenwood Brown ( released June 12, 2012)

Forget everything Disney taught you about mermaids! These mermaids survive by absorbing the energy given off by humans, and in doing so kill the humans.  Taking place in the Apostle Islands, in the clear waters of Lake Superior, it is a long  and sordid tale of revenge. Calder and his sisters are intent on killing the human who they blame for their mother’s death, Jason Hancock. They have waited many years for the chance to carry out their plan, but Calder is having problems following through. Why, you ask? Two words: a girl. I loved that the story was set in the Great Lakes and not in some tropical location.  We have visited the Great Lakes on  numerous vacations, but you can bet that I will be much more cautious swimming the next time!
