This book had me intriqued from the beginning. Ten year old Ruby has changed, and it caused her parents to call the police and send her to a goverment rehab “camp” (more like a concentration camp). As it turns out something has happened to all the children in the world, but more have been affected in the US than other countries. If it doesn’t kill the child, they emerge with new mental abilities, some rather benign others frighteningly powerful. When they reach the camps they are sorted by abilities and Ruby quickly learns that not everything is as it seems. The guards are not afraid to use lethal force to keep the kids in check. The story moves along at a nice pace, and I found interesting that parents allowed their children to be removed with no further contact? It was understandable in the case of Ruby since they no longer remember her…..

Yesterday by C.K. Kelly Martin (released Sept. 25, 2012)

Ahhhhh, time travel, the coming apocalypse, a love story, mystery, intrigue…I LOVED THIS BOOK! Is it 2063 or 1985? Missing memories and headaches, plague Freya as she tries to cope with the death of her father, and newly relocated half way across the planet. A strangely detached sister just adds to the mystery. That is, until she sees Garren on the street and knows him even though he insists they’ve never met. As Freya and Garren get closer, they only discover more questions, and very quickly are catapulted into a life on the run, where powerful forces are trying to keep them from the answers they so desparetly seek. This book takes so many turns and twists you will not be able to predict shere the story is going next. Hang on, it’s a crazy ride, and I loved every minute of it!
