Our Mission...
To help children of all backgrounds, beginning with birth
through age 12, develop a zest for learning, a life-long love of reading,
and the skills to find the answers in their quest for knowledge in a
non-threatening atmosphere.
Our Vision...
The Children's Department will be the acknowledged source of information and
learning for children, the encourager of reading, and the leader in cooperation
with schools and organizations. We will be the gateway of life-long learning,
offering a full spectrum of services, materials, and programs that reflect the
mission of the Library District. We will stimulate children's interests and
appreciation of reading and learning with a current, accessible collection.
Getting a Library Card
Children may acquire a card in their own name
at any age. Parents must accompany their minor children (under 14)
when signing up for a card. Simply bring in some identification that shows
your local residency and our staff can provide a card in just a few minutes.
Studies show that children who read or are read to in the home perform better
in school and are more likely to continue to use the library as a source of
lifelong learning and opportunity.
